Positions to Boost Pregnancy

When trying to conceive it's in your best interest to have a little fun. One of the ways you can inspire a little bit of fun in the pregnancy planning is by trying various positions during intercourse to help promote your fertility. There are some studies suggesting certain positions are more conducive to successful conception than others.

This is not one hundred percent certain, whether these positions will actually influence your odds of getting pregnant or not. It certainly doesn't hurt to try everything possible to boost your odds of getting pregnant.

Certain positions allow the sperm to penetrate deeper into the cervix, which may enhance your odds of conceiving. Examples of this include the missionary position where the man is on top, and doggy style where the man enters you from behind. Both of these positions help facilitate deeper penetration, which can help send sperm to their final destination a bit faster than usual.

Some couples prefer to avoid woman on top positions when trying to conceive. This is largely due to the misconception that a woman's partners 'contribution' to the conception process will all fall out if she is on top, due to the forces of gravity. While some "spilling" may occur, from the moment your partner ejaculates you have a pretty good chance of getting pregnant, as the shear force of this process promotes movement of the sperm into the cervix and on to the awaiting egg.

Some women also prefer to lay flat on their back with their feet slightly elevated for 15 minutes following intercourse to help promote their chances of conception. If you get up immediately following sex, you may worry yourself overly about 'spillage' or leaking. Fortunately you can get pregnant even though some of your partner's sperm may spill out. You may feel better however if you sit tight for 15 minutes or so, allowing sperm to travel up your cervix and increasing your odds of successful conception.
