In this article we are going to tackle another common question relative to mindfulness practice: "Is meditation difficult?" The answer I find can be a confounding combination of both a yes... AND a no..:-) So let's take a look at some of my problems on the path, and see if we can't illuminate some easy ways for you to avoid the same. Read on..:-) The Monkey Mind is NOT Made Up! There is an old metaphor in Buddhist meditation that refers to inner chatter as the "monkey mind". This is a simple way of illuminating the many ways that our concentration jumps, leaps and flutters from one object to the next, never setting down long enough to maintain a solid state. This has unquestionably been an issue for me, and one that I have been able to overcome with lots of practice, and some different distraction altogether, as described below..:-) The Magic is in the Music! Interestingly, one of the easiest ways to distract yourself in a beneficial way during meditation is through the use of sound technology.

In my decade long love of meditation and spiritual practice, rarely do I find more confusion and question than in the area of Kundalini meditation. The reason, I believe, is that the Western interpretation of Kundalini practice, ethos, and symbolism is a bit skewed, and occasionally, probably not unfairly so..:-) As there are several different popular permutations to the practice, (most notably Kundalini Yoga in Western centers) there are apt to be misunderstandings that abound. Read on as we take a quick look at my own experience with this fascinating art. Kundalini meditation borrows heavily from Sanskrit symbology, and is replete with references to the dormant serpent energy that lies at the base of the human spine. In the meditative experience, bliss is achieved through the openings of the various energy centers (called Chakras) and the liberating of this slumbering serpent within your life force. The peak meditative experience as described in Kundalini practice is the when this life force (Shatki) rises to the head energy center, which results in a union with Lord Shiva, the Supreme Being in this particular spiritual exercise.

The body consists of billions of cells, you have more cells in your body then there are stars throughout the universe and the functioning of each cell (reproducing, healing, cleansing, communicating, regulating the body as a whole even when your physical body is "sleep") is operating outside of your so called waking consciousness, totally independent of normal human awareness. All of this happening inside of The human body, with an intelligence that seems to be far beyond normal human intelligence. What force regulates the billions of functions that go on throughout the body. Is this intelligence, the same force that creates and moves the earth, the trees, the animals, the galaxies, the entire universe, is it separate from "you" or are you it.

The technique claims to be able to improve a person by the person individual efforts. The 7 States The first three states of this technique of meditation are awakening, dream and dream sleep less. These states are usually the countries that can be achieved in many other meditation techniques, not just one. The fourth state is called the transcendental consciousness, which in time can be maintained that the person practising the Transcendental Meditation technique goes on his daily life. This period of operation of the fourth state is the fifth state of Transcendental Meditation, which is called Cosmic Consciousness.
