A Bullet Proof Relationship - 8 Principles

Imagine relationships that last forever. Imagine a relationship between a husband and his wife that will never end up in a divorce. Imagine a relationship with your child that never ends up in rebellious resentment. And imagine a relationship with a friend that never grows sour.

A relationship like this would be a relationship that can last through obstacles and challenges because at the very end it is difficult times that cause a relationship to break up.

A relationship that can endure through obstacles, challenges or difficult times would be called a bullet proof relationship; one that can never be killed by anything or anyone.

So, the question is, is such a relationship really possible? (Especially if you look at the social and emotional state of the world.) Well it depends on your mentality of a relationship as well as how you approach it. If you have a quick fix mentality of a relationship, especially towards the obstacles, then the answer is, no. Not at all! On the other hand, if a relationship is approached with an inside out mentality, the answer is yes. Without a doubt.

A quick fix mentality will find its roots in the Greek word, eros, which is one of many types of love that is part of the Greek vocabulary. It depends on a feeling that has been stimulated by the person being loved. Once the feeling is gone, there is no need for the relationship to continue.

The inside out mentality finds its roots in the Greek word, agapй, also a Greek word for love but it differs from eros love.It originates as a thought completely independent from any feeling stimulated by another person. In other words, it originates as a choice; a choice to apply principles despite circumstances.

A relationship that finds its roots in the agapй type of love is impossible to fail. Without exception!

So, what are these principles? In the Judeo Christian Bible we find a scripture that if read in the Hebrew or Greek translations, would read like this: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love: joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance." Galatians 5:22 In other words there is only one fruit, love, and everything that follow is a definition of it in the form of 8 principles.

It is these very principles that makes a relationship bullet proof, but only so if these principles are learned, internalized and applied. In other words, these principles must first be developed and nurtured within oneself, before it can flow to the outside through your communication to others.

It sounds really easy to apply these principles, because we think it is common knowledge. In fact we all know them. If we know them then, why doesn't it work? Simply because "the darkness of trouble arises from the darkness of ignorance."

We can all know these principles very well, but if we are ignorant of the meaning of these principles and how to apply it, trouble arises. By being aware of the meaning of these words as well as the awareness of it every single day in our conversations with other, we are in a position where our relationship will not only last, but they will become extremely satisfying, transformational and intimate. In the very sense these principles acts as fuel to any relationship.
