Getting Rid of Age Signs on Your Skin - It's Easier Than You Think
Did you know that our skin starts to show the signs of ageing in our late 20's? Even more so for people who live an unhealthy lifestyle and is constantly exposed to the sun. Fighting the negative effects of ageing can be very easy if one makes the commitment to start living healthy now.
From what we eat to the creams we use on our faces, they all contribute to how long we can maintain that youthful glow and touch of our skin. Getting rid of the signs of aging is easier than we all think, follow these tips complied from skin experts and Dermatologists who swear on its benefits, and I'm sure you wont have to age another day.
Tip 1: Moisturize
Moisturizing is very important in the fight against wrinkles. It hydrates our skin with much-needed moisture to keep it firm, soft, and supple to the touch. People who have oily skin might skip this part in their daily regimen, but skin experts all agree that applying an oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer on oily skin can do wonders in terms of wrinkle prevention and controlling acne.
There is a difference between the oil we produce (which is natural and nourishes our skin) and oil-free moisturizers (which has a lot of vitamins and substances that can replenish the skin for people who have poor diet). Remember that skin health is dictated by the overall health of our body, and helping our skin with a good moisturizer can lessen the effects of ageing.
Tip 2: Eat Healthy
We are what we eat, and in skincare, this old adage holds true. There are many vitamins and minerals involved in regulating the beauty and health of our skin. Eating the right things can really help in the fight against wrinkles. A scientist studying wrinkles in Kenya found out that elderly people in certain villages which has access to clean drinking water and healthy, natural food, show very little signs of ageing.
One respondent, a 63- year old Kenyan man who regularly eats raw fruits and vegetables, and fresh honey daily, did not show as many wrinkles as his western counterparts who eat fast food on a regular basis. The scientists who reviewed his study was shock because they said most people in more affluent areas of rural Kenya looked at least 20 years younger than Americans of the same ages. Vitamin A, E, Niacin and Zinc can help in regulating the skin's repair and replenishing processes, and eating food that are rich in these can help one win the fight against wrinkles.
Tip 3: Drink Plenty of Water
Water is necessary in maintaining our body's equilibrium. People can live for more than a week without food, but not drinking water can kill us in as little as 2 to 3 days. Water is very important in skincare because it prevents the drying effects of dehydration on our skin. People don't realize this but a lot of us are actually dehydrated without even knowing it.
Most of us only drink water with meals of when taking meds but Doctors recommend that we always carry a water bottle with us. Whenever we felt he urge to sip, it is usually our body telling us that it needs water. This can come at any given time and the only way to prevent the damaging effects of dehydration on our skin is to always bring something to drink with us.
Coffee and tea doesn't really count because they are diuretics, which are actually dehydrating. It is best to drink just plain water or to make it more interesting, fresh fruit juices. Fruit juices can help a lot in replenishing our body's Vitamin C supply - which is a very good anti-aging vitamin. Remember to always drink plenty of water to avoid drying out our skin.
Tip 4: STOP Smoking
Stop smoking and avoid places where you can be exposed to smoke. Smoking is one of the habits that can really speed up the aging process. It's actually worst than drinking alcohol because not only will it cause cancerous cells to develop in our lungs, but the smoke itself is really bad for our skin. A smoker's skin is more exposed to pollution and ash debris - which can block our pores causing zits, and stripping our skin's moisture supply.
Skin experts attribute the development of premature wrinkles to smoking, and there are even studies suggesting that people who smoke are ten (10) times more likely to develop wrinkles before they reach their late 20's. Smoking is discouraged not just because of its harmful effects on our body but also because of the damaging effects it has on our skin. So the next time to feel the urge to light a cigarette, always remember that you can look hotter when you're 50 if you don't.
Tip 5: Get plenty of Sleep
Sleeping is our body's natural way to heal and repair itself. Older people need sleep as much as babies do. For babies, sleeping is a way to for growth and development, and for adults, it's for maintenances and repair. Adults are recommended to sleep at least 8 hours a day to give their body the chance to rejuvenate itself. Sleeping and getting enough rest can do wonders in skincare.
People who are always well-rested and have plenty of sleep regularly have been proven to show the signs of ageing later in their lives. Sleeping also rejuvenates the mind and this helps in maintaining inner peace, which is similar to that attained by people who meditate - and this in turn lessens the hormonal imbalance that can cause zits and wrinkles. So always make it a point to sleep at least eight (8) hours a day - they don't call it beauty rest for nothing.
Tip 6: Exfoliate Gently
People are advised y dermatologists to exfoliate at least one every 2 weeks. This aides in the skins process or renewing itself and facilitates the growth of new skin cells. Exfoliating also removes dull, dead skin for the surface revealing the fresh, younger looking skin underneath. Be sure to find a gentle scrub, which comes in many varieties in the market, and exfoliate at least twice a month. This will greatly improve your skin tone and texture immediately after washing and it also helps in the renewal and growth of skin cells.
Tip 7: Worry Less, Enjoy More
The simplest way to always look and feel young is to always surround yourself with positive things and lessen the stress you get from your environment. It may sound very trivial but people who are happier tend to live longer - a fact all scientist believe in. Remember that part of what makes people most beautiful having confidence in their own beauty - and this is something no facial cream or cleanser can give, but something you can start giving yourself today.
