Will Cardio Exercise Really Help You Get Six Pack Abs?

Do you ever wonder if all that cardio exercise you are doing will really help you strip away your belly fat and reveal your six pack abs? Do you find yourself doing mile after mile on the track or treadmill and still you have that annoying extra layer of fat around your waist? Is there a more effective way to supercharge your fat burning metabolism and get rid of belly fat for good?

Cardiovascular exercises such as jogging, running, and working out on a treadmill or tread climber are great ways to burn away calories at a high rate. These exercises are good for your cardiovascular system and will increase your aerobic capacity.

But while these exercise will burn calories and increase your endurance, there is a more effective way to help your body burn away even more calories and fat. Surprisingly, strength building exercises that add lean muscle mass to your body are better at stripping away that roll of belly fat you have had so much difficulty getting rid of.

You see, cardiovascular exercises do nothing to increase your metabolic rate while you are not exercising. If you training for an hour each day that still leaves twenty three hours that you are resting or doing other everyday tasks.

When you strength train to pack extra lean muscle mass on, you are increasing the capacity of your body to burn more calories even when you are not exercising. Since lean muscle mass burns calories at a high rate, a strategy of building up your muscle mass is an effective way to finally get rid of your belly fat.

As we get older, we tend to lose muscle mass unless we do something to counteract that loss. It seems with every passing year it is harder and harder to keep the fat off. By working out with weights or by doing other strength building exercises you can counteract the normal loss of muscle mass. You will also look younger and feel younger.

So if you have been frustrated trying to strip away that belly fat with endless cardiovascular exercising, try hitting the weights for an effective and long lasting way to get rid of your belly fat and improve your physique at the same time.
