Lets not beat around the bush - you want to get rid of your acne. There are three main causes of acne, and you need to identify which kind you have.

Clogged pores cause the mildest and most common form of acne. This type of acne shows up as red bumps that aren't inflamed, but showing nonetheless. Luckily, this is the easiest form of acne to treat. You will need to find a mild face wash and use it 2 or 3 times per day. Make sure it is non-drying and doesn't contain harsh chemicals.

Bacteria, along with clogged pores, are the cause of the next type of acne. To treat this type of acne you need to use the mild wash noted above to unclog pores, but also some form of medication. A physician, to combat more severe acne, usually prescribes antibiotics, but you can also find a salicylic acid of 2 - 5% over the counter that can be very effective.

The last form of acne can be mild to severe, but caused by different factors. More specifically, genetics and or diet can be the cause. Overly oily skin can be the main factor causing acne, but also comes back to clogged pores. A solution for this is to try vitamins to reduce the production of oil in the skin. B-5 specifically is the vitamin that will do this, but I recommend a good B-Complex and the anti-oxidant vitamin E to not only reduce oily skin, but to combat stress and the hormones and free-radicals that are produced by the body. Reduction of stress hormones can mean reduced acne.

Another thing is you need to review your diet. Take note of breakouts and what foods you have eaten 12 to 24 hours prior to the breakout. Oily foods can translate into increased oil production in your skin and cause outbreaks. Drinking a sufficient amount of water can also flush the toxins that cause acne out of the body.

Lastly, you should change sheets and pillowcases often. Oils and dirt can build up and cause pores to get clogged. This not only increases breakouts on your face and neck, but can cause breakouts on your chest and back also.

Follow these tips and you can become acne free in a very short period of time and stay acne free for years to come.
