Get Rid of Acne Without Medications

For acne prone people, the fastest way to get rid of acne is to fully understand what causes and aggravates acne. When you grasp the reasons acne forms on your face and body, you understand why certain treatment programs work and can change some of your behavior to naturally prevent acne from ever appearing.

In the simplest explanation, acne is caused by excess oil production in the body, clogged pores and bacteria. Specifically what happens is that most acne prone people have oily skin. Your body naturally produces what is called sebum oil, which is the natural substance your body secretes in order to protect your hair and skin. People with oily skin, however, over-produce sebum oil, which contributes to the development of acne vulgaris.

Acne during the teenage years is completely normal, as the body goes through a lot of hormonal changes cause the sebaceous glands to produce and excrete more sebum. The increase level of sebum production in acne prone people, however, remains high as they enter adulthood. As a result they have to continue to fight acne problems through their life. These hormonal changes explains why women tend to break out during menstrual cycles and pregnancy.

Too much sebum oil is not the only culprit through. What happens when you have acne problems is the excess oil clogs pores does not allow the skin to breathe properly. As a result, dead skin cells and bacteria enter the hair follicles and a think layer of skin forms over the pore as it fill with more sebum oil.

This, in essence, is what causes acne. Most acne treatment medications either focus on reducing the amount of sebum production in your body, reducing bacteria or keeping the pores healthy and unclogged. But you don't have to use medications in order to achieve these results. There are many natural methods even an acne-prone person can in order to maintain healthy skin.

These methods all point back to understanding what causes acne. For example, there's a good chance that you are not washing your face correctly. Sounds like a simple thing to do that could not possibly cause acne. However, when you over-wash, wash too aggressively, or use the wrong products, you irritate and/or dry the skin. When this happens, the body goes into emergency mode and starts producing more sebum oil to try to protect and heal the skin. The accelerated sebum production ends up clogging your pores and creating acne. So while you thought you were working to get rid of acne by keeping you face clean, you may actually be aggravating the problem.

The same thing goes for removing and keeping blackheads from developing on your nose and chin. There are simply, yet effective methods you can follow to keep your skin clear and make sure blackhead acne never comes back. It's just a matter of knowing these effective methods.
