Acne - It's a Battle That Can Be Won

Battling acne is hard, it's an ongoing battle that nobody wants to be part of. Luckily for some people mild cases of acne can be easily treatable, for others however, moderate and severe acne is a greater problem. There is some acne that withstands treatment by even the most experienced doctor or dermatologist that is why it is important to do everything possible to lessen the severity of acne.

With the correct skincare regime, diet and exercise you can increase the effectiveness of any other medical treatments you may receive.

If you are using acne specific treatments it is vital that you read and understand all the directions. Never be tempted to scrub roughly at acne prone skin. Use only a gentle skin cleanser, lukewarm water, and a gentle motion with your fingertips as your primary acne skin care regime. When you wash your face with your hands, be sure to first thoroughly wash your hands as not to transfer bacteria to your face.

Natural products can definitely play a part in acne treatment. Echinacea and other herbal ingredients are effective as antibiotic agents in products such as soaps and facial cleanser. Tea tree oil also has known antibiotic properties and serves as a mild anesthetic that will soothe the irritated skin. Visit your local health food store and they will be able to advise you on appropriate products.
