Evaluation Of Lifestyle Modification As A Way To Get Rid Of Acne
Acne vulgaris or acne, as it is called commonly, is widely prevalent in the adolescent period amongst all races. Acne is present in pure vegetarians also. So, really there is no link with food.
Scientific studies reveal that acne could be caused by a bacteria living in our skin. However, this bacteria is present in all of us. Yet it causes acne only in some individuals. Hence, now the scientific studies focus towards the individual susceptibility towards various stimuli which trigger acne.
One of the hormone which triggers acne is testosterone, the male hormone. This is present in the girls also in smaller quantities. Most of the research indicate that acne could be caused by the hypersensitivity reaction of the epidermis (outer skin) to the high levels of testosterone and other hormones. This process makes the skin susceptible to inflammation (triggered by the bacteria) that results in the acne flare-up.
The commonly available medicines (prescription and over the counter medicines) are either antibacterial or anti-inflammatory or both. However, all these medicines treat the acne well but not cure. If the medicines are stopped, acne will relapse. So there is still something unidentified is there.
I am also an acne sufferer. I started suffering from acne from my 12th year onwards. Severe nodular acne it was. I tried with lot of medicines. They treated the acne well. But relapses continued after stopping the drug. So, I started exploring other possibilities. I observed the cosmetics I was using.
I observed that my cosmetics triggered me the inflammation process that resulted in severe nodular acne. So, I stopped using all the cosmetics and then I started using baby products. Baby products are mild and they do not cause any skin reactions. Naturally, the baby products I used reduced my acne to a greater extent. I felt relaxed.
Through my observation, I found that certain foods also trigger acne. I identified such foods and avoided them. This also reduced my acne well.
By following such lifestyle modifications, I am able to get rid of my acne. This findings might be helpful to other acne sufferers also.
In conclusion, identifying the triggers in our life style which cause acne and avoiding them would be a very useful way to get rid of acne. Along with acne medications, these simple lifestyle modifications would yield great benefit.
