Preparing for the Tiger Mother

I met the Tiger Mother today. I booked Amy Chua, author of the "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" on a show that I currently produce. Chua's book chronicles her journey of raising her daughters the traditional Chinese way. She had mixed success with making her daughters practice the piano of minimum of two hours a day and not allowing them play dates or slumber parties.

Seinfeld TV Show, Perhaps The Greatest Comedy Of All Time

The Seinfeld TV show, although another American television sitcom, is far from just another show on the airwaves. The show debuted on July 5, 1989 on NBC and lived within families' living rooms for many years to come. Full of laughter, every day scenarios, and plots people could relate to, this rather simple show is one of the top comedies of all time.

Wildlife Documentaries Continue To Captivate Audiences Worldwide

Wildlife documentaries have taken people into the homes of animals, plants and other non-human living creatures for years. It is a way to see life in the wilderness up-close and personal. There is nothing more extreme, breathtaking, and intricate than a film that explores the world we live in and the creatures that make it up. Typically these forms of documentaries are made for television with most airing on public broadcasting channels.

I Wish I Attended Shermer High

I could have followed Ferris Bueller around. Envied Claire Standish from across the hall. Avoided eye contact with John Bender as he terrorized the class. Watched as Gary and Wyatt introduced their new 'friend' to the gym class. Been harassed by Ted 'the geek' for my panties. I would have fit right in at Shermer High. If none of this makes any sense to you, then you have lived a sheltered life without access to great movies.

The Real Housewives of Miami Finally Debuts

The Real Housewives of Miami has just debuted but there doesn't seem to be anything much happening. Does this surprise anyone? Has reality television gone too far? Who would really be interesting in a show of this nature? The South Beach show is not quite as hot and sizzling as it was expected to be. Cougars galore, all the women who claim to be anti-plastic surgery on the show are probably the ones who have had liposuction done!

Personally, I'd Like to Throw the Island Off the Island - Reality TV - You're Fired!

Well, here we are again, yes, it's that time again, as Hollywood determines for us what we have to watch. You'd think by now they would have figured out that the viewers, yes the viewers, the users, "power to the users" ought to be able to pick which pilots they like and vote on them. So, we know that "Two Men and a Child" is out along with Charles Sheen who got his rear-end laid off like so many other Americans - I can hear Warner Bros.

Film Review: The Uninvited 2009

BOTTOM LINE: The film has some good atmospheric moments, but it relies on stereotypical conventions that do not gel well at all with the overall story, all despite an ending which almost makes up for that unevenness. THE GOOD: The film starts with lead character Anna (Browning) telling her psychiatrist about a recurring dream she is having. Needless to say, it is spooky.

Speed Racer and the Use of Chroma Key

Speed Racer is a 2008 movie based on the popular American cartoon series by the same name, which did 52 episodes on American television during 1967 and 1968. A few episodes of the cartoon have also been translated into comic books. The story of the movie is about a young man called Speed Racer (played by Emille Hirsch) -- do not be astonished because that indeed is his name -- who can drive cars at extraordinary speeds and actually takes that up as his profession although he is miserable in his school work.
