Risk Of Diabetes Mellitus After Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy Or Ureteroscopy For Urinary Stone Disease

ORLANDO, FL (UroToday.com) - Researchers from the University of Tennessee in Memphis in a retrospective case control study of 713 consecutive patients treated with SWL and 146 consecutive patients treated with ueteroscopy (URS) analyzed demographic, laterality of the stone burden and treatment modality, and presence of pre-operative and post-operative diabetes mellitus to determine any significant relationships. Of the 713 SWL patients 137 had pre-existing diabetes mellitus.
