On-Page SEO Checklist

This article is based on a research I did in past months. I tried in many ways to change my on-page settings of my gadget review blog, you can almost say I tried everything, and since my blog is frequently crawled, I saw the results pretty fast. Here is a SEO checklist that I have compiled. Make sure you follow the positive steps and avoid the negative ones. Many of these methods are commonly known among webmasters, but re-reading something you already might know doesn't hurt either!

Factors that helped me rank for my keyword:

- Using my keyword in title
- Using my keyword in URL (raduantohi.com/seo-checklist, if seo checklist is what I am targeting)
- Using my keyword in the beginning of the text.
- Using the keyword in bold (not sure if this helps tho)
- Using keyword in ALT (image title) tags
- Using keywords within content/page
- Using keywords in meta keyword tag
- Use sitemaps
- Using H1, H2 tags for your primary keyword

Factors that damaged my ranking position for my keyword:

- Using lots of images
- Using flash
- Stuffing your content with your keyword, under 5% (yeah I removed 15%, was advised it's way too too much) is good.

Things that aren't important but people tend to gossip that they are

- Font used (even Matt Cutts on his blog told it isn't)
- xHTML validation
- Using keyword in meta description tag
