The Links That You Should Be Using As Part of Your SEO Campaign
There are several types of links that you can use to help promote your website or web pages. Everyone knows that a good linking strategy is one of the best ways to help your website or web pages rank high with search engines. Below you'll find descriptions of the various links that you can incorporate into your SEO campaign to help achieve high ranking.
One Way Links
One Way Links, also known as Inbound Links, are favored by most, including search engines. One Way Links are seen as 'votes' for your website or pages and occur when one site or page has a link pointing to your website or page. There is no link back from your site or page to the site where the link is placed, hence the name One Way Link. As these are considered by search engines as the best type of link they are the best types to aim for in your linking strategy.
Reciprocal links
Reciprocal Links are links that are exchanged with other sites. Not considered worth it by many people because the general belief is that if you have a link pointing to your site and you then link back to the originator it 'cancels out' the link. However, that is not to say that they are not relevant. Reciprocal links can help provide traffic to your site from another site when the visitor clicks on the link. Also, apart from helping to promote your site on third party sites, reciprocal links help to provide anchor texts for your keywords.
Three Way Links
Three Way Links are very similar to One Way Links. It works by having a non reciprocal link pointing to a page, then the target page agreeing to point to a page on another site owned by you. Therefore, there is no reciprocal link back to your originating site. When I do my reciprocal link marketing, I tend to offer this more as the links are more favored than reciprocal links.
Anchor Links
Anchor Links, also known as Anchor Texts, are highlighted words, often in blue and underlined, that appear on a web page (see the bottom of this article). These links are one of the best types of links that you can have and I'll explain why. Anchor Links in most cases tend to be One Way Links that point to the specific page, plus they are often used to highlight keywords that are being targeted. For example, I may Anchor Text the words "Car Radio" on a web page which when clicked by the visitor takes me to a page about Car Radios. To make efficient use of Anchor Links you need to have the same words in the Anchor Text that you use to be the same keywords for the page you are linking to, ensuring the keywords are used in the title, keywords and description tags of the page and used well in the content of the same target page.
URL Links
URL links are links that state the whole web page address. They help to promote the whole page as a link rather than targeting a specific keyword that you want to target.
Deep Links
Deep Links are links that are used within your website. Many website owners forget to use Deep Links which is a missed opportunity. Like Anchor Texts they point to the pages within your website often from the home page. Although not as highly rated as One Way Links and Anchor Text Links by search engines, as part of your on page SEO work, you should be using them.
As part of successful website development, you should be using all types of links that are available especially One Way Links and Anchor Text Links. It addition, it is recommended that you purchase good SEO Software such as SEO Elite. Not only will it help your rankings, but, if you are practicing internet marketing, it should help you achieve sales results.
