Ezines Are on the Scene
The definition of the term ezine comes from the shortened version of electronic magazine which is exactly what it is. It's an electronic magazine or newsletter that a firm creates and then sends out regularly to the people who have subscribed to the newsletter. The range of topics that you can find ezines discussing are virtually infinite and no matter what particular niche a customer belongs to, there is likely to be an ezine that speaks to their segment.
The ezine creates a new level of communication between a firm and the consumer and it can contain announcements, promotions, advertisements, hints and tips, recommendations, money off vouchers and in fact just about anything you want to include. Another benefit from the ezine comes in the fact that many ezine creators sell advertising space in their ezines which allows other organizations to reach the same customer base that you are after but selling these adverts provide another stream of income. A quality ezine will have a very loyal customer base and provides a sort of personal recommendation of the advertiser which when combined with an attractive offer will result in a terrific return on investment.
The ezine also provides some of the personal relationship that retail outlets can build up between themselves and their customer base but which has been traditionally lacking in online activities. Taking the opportunity to continually inform customers of offers and promotions that are being provided by the business as well as keeping the product and brand within the customer's mindset helps to create a bond between customer and business that can often be missing from online firms.
A growing trend surrounding ezines is the amount of ezine directories that are appearing on the internet which makes it even easier for a company to place their ezine where customers are looking for information about specific topics. This effectively means that the consumer can easily come and find you. One of the best things about the internet is the way that the mass market is able to be broken down so easily into more definable chunks allowing firms to serve to a niche market. The riches are in the niches. I personally know of individuals who have made millions in tiny corners of a niche of a niche market.
Even a casual examination of an ezine directory shows the potential to have your ezine placed into a category with other similar products which makes it easier for the customer to find you. With this part of the marketing process already taken care of, the important thing for the creator of the ezine to do is to ensure that the content is enough to make it stand out from its competitors and to offer exactly what the customer needs.
Although the capabilities of internet marketing make it easier for a firm to directly target their consumers, it does not override the main principles of marketing and there still needs to be a customer focus in everything that the firm does. The product has to be of sufficient quality to stand it out from its peers, the price has to be competitive and the promotion has to extol the benefits and really push the message to the potential customer.
