Charity Events
Decide on where you are going to hold your charity event and fix a time and place. Also ask the venue if they are willing to donate the hire fee to you - this is best if your event is held at the venues low periods. Of course they may say yes, they may say no but at least you asked! Also think about those companies/individuals who may be interested in your event and giving their time or resources. Think about your guests very carefully - a charity event that is in a large venue whose aim is to raise large amounts of money needs to be inviting people who have access to large sums of money either personally or through the company charitable sector. Prepare a program that your guests are going to enjoy.
Building Advisory Groups For Your Organization
Organizations are not created in a vacuum. They are born and grow within a network of meaningful connections to people and other organizations that allow them to develop and flourish. Sometimes, controlling part of that network and turning it to the organization's advantage is a more than worthwhile endeavor: this is when advisory groups are established. What are advisory groups? Advisory groups are individuals and/or groups of individuals that contribute to the establishment, maintenance and development of an organization. Advisory groups are part of the organizational structure, yet separated from its membership. They're somewhat in between the role of an external consultancy and an internal auditing team, in their impartial, yet caring, approach to the organization's issues.
Nonprofit Marketing - 5 Essentials For a Narrative That Pulls Incredible Results
Nonprofit organizations are naturals for narrative marketing. Simply put, they have access to compelling human dramas every single day. Stories that make people cry. Stories that ignite hope and joy. If told well, there's no way someone cannot react strongly to an organization's key stories. For the most part, though, this isn't happening. Large and small, most nonprofits -especially those in the human services arena - do not utilize their stories to their full benefit, and typically only tap 10% of their potential. A case in point is a drug and alcohol treatment agency, CoRR, that is located in northeastern California. This organization was on the doorstep of celebrating 30 years of service to their community, yet very few people knew they existed, much less had knowledge of what they did.
Ways to Volunteer
Good neighbours and assisted shopping. Good Neighbours volunteers provide companionship and friendship by making home visits or speaking on the telephone which helps to prevent older people from becoming lonely. Volunteers can also help with tasks like collecting a prescription or small jobs around the home or even visiting the shops to aid their independence. Charities need people to deliver these services locally and is an ideal volunteering opportunity if you are not able to give your time at a set time every week or month. Lunch clubs and social centres By volunteering at a lunch club or a social centre, you will be giving company to older or housebound people.
Craigs List and New York
The Craigslist was established in 1995 by Craig Newmark for the San Francisco Bay Area. It is an online centralized network of online communities comprising of free classified advertisements with jobs, housing, and internships, erotic services and services like sales, wanted services and pet's categories and various such other services. This was also used as forums on different topics. By September 2007 Craigslist was operating in 450 cities in 50 countries. Craiglist and New York are inseparable today. Even though Craigslist is operating in such a big way it has only 24 employees. The income is generated by the paid ads in some special cities and broker apartment listings in New York as seen in Craiglist and New York.

Gauging the Success of a Grant Writer - Eight Key Indicators
As a non-profit grant consultant, I'm often asked, "What is your success rate?" People want to know my ratio of grant proposals submitted to grants funded - either by number submitted or by total amount requested. It's a natural to want to gauge a grant writer's success, but this question really doesn't get at the information needed to assess a grant consultant's performance. It's also tempting to ask how much money has been secured. For one client, my consulting company wrote grant applications to local foundations in the first half of 2008 that resulted in definite commitments of over $2.5 million. Grant requests prepared in the same period for a second client resulted in over $1 million in commitments from local foundations.
Poor Economies Hurt Non-Profits - Bad Attitudes Kill Them
Not long ago I read a disturbing article from a major Industry News Agency, the article discussed the issues with slow economic times and charitable giving. We all know that the economy effects giving and the non-profit sector, and thus, the article did not shock me much. However, the title was completely bothering me all day - and the article title read: "The Coming Charity Crisis - How the struggling economy is hurting donations" Then the article started out saying that; "Bad economy causing non-profit bankruptcy" or something to that affect. I would like to comment on the fact that the "Economy" in the US is not all that bad, rather folks use titles like this to bend the mindless masses into a created reality and thus, cause consumer confidence to go South.
Nonprofits and For-Profits - Different Yet the Same
I suspect that many of us consider nonprofits and for-profits to be so fundamentally different that they require entirely different management approaches. It makes sense. A for-profit's purpose is to build shareholder value. Since a business is ultimately worth what it will earn, there's a logical emphasis in business on growing profits by increasing revenues and controlling costs. A nonprofit's purpose on the other hand is to promote a cause or help the needy -- those who otherwise would not be served because there's not enough money in the activity to attract private investment. A nonprofit's worth is a function of how many are helped or how much good is contributed.
